There will be many who speculate that this novel will be one that celebrates white supremacy, antisemitism, racial segregation, and other divisive subjects. This is not meant to be celebration of fascist and totalitarian ideals, but a cautionary tale about the effects of such ideals if put into practice.
The recent events and the continued onslaught by certain factions to exploit our democracy with something dark and sinister are indeed troubling. But they are not new.
Just over 100 years ago, Woodrow Wilson banned the integration of the Federal government. Just under 85 years ago, there was a plot to overthrow the government of the United States and install a fascist regime headed by a USMC general, Smedley Butler, who fortunately put a halt to such a dream. And just over 80 years ago, an American Nazi sympathizer, Charles Lindbergh, ran for president.
With those historical events in mind, I have posed this cautionary tale about the effects of embracing some of the more radical and noxious ideals into our American system. This is not The Turner Diaries or any other fantasy designed to inflame a disenfranchised and dissatisfied group such as the ones that seek anarchy in the United States today.
There are homages here to some of the great works of fiction and I hope that the spirit of their cautions will be taken here by my story.
Keep up the good work.
